Groom Roundtable is a neighborhood association of Miami residents who care about local pet services. We've built this directory because pet owners in Coconut Grove, Brickell, and across Miami deserve to find the businesses that actually show up for their animals. We do the vetting work so you don't have to.

Why It Exists

Pet boarding and daycare are trust-based industries. Your dog cannot tell you if a facility is clean, whether the staff paid attention to them, or if training methods were humane. The dog-boarding industry is largely unregulated at the state level, which means the difference between excellent and inadequate care often comes down to individual business owners' standards.

Since 2022, Groom Roundtable has evaluated 47 pet care businesses across Miami. Of those, we've listed 23 that meet our baseline standards for professionalism, cleanliness, and care quality. That 49% acceptance rate reflects how seriously we take the vetting process.

We've turned down businesses for insufficient staff training (12), failure to document health protocols (8), and inflexible handling of special needs animals (4). The businesses we do list have shown consistent willingness to improve their standards and respond to owner concerns.

How We Evaluate

Boarding and Daycare Facilities

We check staff-to-dog ratios, vaccination requirements, handling protocols for anxious animals, and cleanliness standards. All boarding facilities we feature operate to the standards set by the International Boarding & Pet Services Association, the trade association covering boarding, daycare, grooming and training operators. We also verify that staff can handle medical situations and have clear communication channels for owners.

Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters

We verify insurance, bonding, and references. Pet sitters we list are encouraged to pursue Pet Sitters International's CPPS certification, which requires adherence to industry quality standards and ethics codes. We also assess their ability to handle dogs with behavioral challenges and their communication style with owners.

Groomers and Trainers

Professional groomers we list are encouraged to hold certification through the National Dog Groomers Association of America, whose National Certified Master Groomer credential is the industry's standard skills exam. Trainers should be certified by recognized bodies that require science-based methods. We reject facilities using outdated or aversive training techniques.
